Overview
Phon Die’s life has been shaped by hardship from the very beginning. Instead of growing up with the love, security, and stability every child deserves, she faces each day wondering where her next meal will come from and whether there will be enough to get through another day.
She now lives with her disabled grandmother, who, despite her own physical limitations and extreme poverty, has become Phon Die’s only source of love, protection, and care. Together, they struggle simply to survive.
Family
Phon Die’s mother works as a prostitute but provides no financial support for her daughter. Left with no one else to care for her, Phon Die lives with her elderly disabled grandmother, whose health makes everyday tasks increasingly difficult.
The pair live in extremely poor conditions with very few possessions and little security. Their income, when available, is often insufficient to buy enough food, clean clothing, medicine, or other basic necessities. Some days, they rely entirely on the kindness of neighbours or charitable donations to eat.
Despite her own hardship, Phon Die’s grandmother continues to put her granddaughter first, sacrificing her own comfort in the hope of giving her a safer future.
Hobbies & Dreams
Like any child, Phon Die deserves the chance to laugh, play, learn, and dream about what she wants to become when she grows up.
Instead, much of her childhood is spent living with uncertainty and hardship. Simple things that many children take for granted—three nutritious meals a day, clean clothes, school supplies, or a safe place to sleep—are often beyond reach.
With the support of compassionate donors, Phon Die could attend school with confidence, enjoy regular meals, receive healthcare when needed, and experience the happiness every child deserves.

Risks
Without ongoing support, Phon Die faces numerous risks associated with growing up in chronic poverty, including:
- Malnutrition and poor physical development due to inadequate nutrition.
- Irregular school attendance or dropping out because of financial hardship.
- Increased risk of neglect resulting from parental substance abuse.
- Exposure to criminal activity and unsafe environments.
- Poor mental and emotional wellbeing caused by prolonged instability.
- Increased likelihood of remaining trapped in the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
- Higher risk of exploitation, child labour, or involvement in harmful activities as she grows older.
Early intervention through nutrition, education, healthcare, and family support can significantly reduce these risks and improve long-term outcomes.
