Charity fundraising in Thailand
Fundraise for Us
Bring people together. Turn an idea into support for Doc Martyn’s work in Thailand.
Charity fundraising can start with a shared interest, a personal challenge or a gathering in your community. Tell us what you have in mind, and discuss the next steps with our team.

Your idea. A conversation. A plan.
Start with a conversation
You do not need a finished event plan to book a meeting. Bring your idea, your questions and any dates you are considering.
We can discuss the activity, how you hope to raise funds and what needs confirming before you get started.
Charity fundraising ideas to make your own
Choose something that fits your interests, your group and the time you have. These are starting points for a conversation, not scheduled Doc Martyn events.
Bring people together
Community events
Consider a coffee morning, a quiz or a small community gathering. Start with an activity your friends or neighbours already enjoy.
Then think about a suitable venue, likely costs and who could help you organise it.
Get colleagues involved
Workplace fundraising
Invite colleagues to suggest a team activity, a lunchtime gathering or a shared challenge. Choose an idea that people can take part in comfortably.
Before making plans, speak with your workplace about permission, timing and any practical limits.
Learn and take part
School fundraisers
A school community might explore a creative showcase, a reading challenge or a family activity. Keep the idea suitable for the people taking part.
Discuss it with the school first. Involve the responsible adults in planning, permissions and safety.
Set yourself a challenge
Personal challenges
A walk, a cycle or a creative challenge could give friends and family a reason to support your effort. Pick something realistic for your experience and circumstances.
Talk through your idea with our team before promoting it as a fundraiser for Doc Martyn.

How to plan your fundraiser
A simple first conversation can help you work out what to do next.
Choose an idea
Think about who could take part, what they might enjoy and how much time you can give. A manageable plan is a useful starting point.
Talk with our team
Book a meeting to explain your idea. Share any proposed dates, location, costs and fundraising goal, even if they are only rough estimates.
Plan your fundraiser
After the conversation, use the agreed next steps to develop your plan. Confirm permissions, responsibilities and the donation arrangements before inviting people to take part.
What to bring to the meeting
A short outline is enough. Consider these questions before we speak:
What would you like to do, and who might join you? Where and when could it happen? What costs or permissions might be involved? How do you hope to raise funds?
You can also ask about using the foundation’s name or logo, sharing your event and any information you may need.
Agree how donations will reach us
Before collecting money or opening a fundraising account, discuss the donation route with our team. This is especially important if your activity involves cash, event expenses or a third-party platform.
Do not assume that booking a meeting creates a donation account or a public fundraising page. The meeting is a first conversation about your proposal.

Why fundraise for Doc Martyn?
Charity fundraising is a way to introduce others to the foundation as well as raise money. Your event can bring friends, colleagues or neighbours into a conversation about supporting its work in Thailand.
Before sharing your plans, take a look at our ways to give. If you prefer to make a personal gift instead of organising an activity, you can donate directly.
Let’s talk about your fundraising idea

Fundraising questions
Do I need a confirmed date or fundraising target?
No finished plan is needed for an initial conversation. Bring any dates or goals you are considering, and make clear which details are still flexible.
Can a workplace, school or community group take part?
If you have a group fundraising idea, discuss it with us. Speak with the person responsible for your organisation too, so you can check permissions and practical requirements.
Does booking a meeting confirm my event?
No. Booking starts a conversation; it does not confirm an event, permission to use the foundation’s branding or a particular level of support. Agree those details with the team before promoting your activity.
Will I get my own online fundraising page?
This page does not create personal fundraising pages or track fundraising totals. If you want to collect donations online, ask the team about a suitable arrangement during your meeting.
